Before you file
- Contact the institution first. You must attempt to resolve the issue directly with the school or district. Cognia requires you to provide documentation of this effort when you file your complaint.
- Gather documentation. Prepare all relevant information and documentation, including your contact information, the name of the school or district, and any records supporting your complaint.
- Ensure your complaint is within their scope.
Cognia handles issues related to violations of its accreditation standards, policies, or assurances. Common complaints they investigate include:
- Board governance issues.
- Allegations of racial discrimination.
- Lack of transparent communication with staff and the community.
- Unethical practices.
